Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom won Chadwick Boseman a posthumous Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor in a Motion Picture (Drama). Taylor Simone Ledward, Chadwick’s wife, accepted the award on his behalf during the virtual ceremony on February 28 with an emotional speech.

She began by making a list of those whom her late husband would have thanked. She cited the names as she accepted his award and noted the people who had been part of his work. “I don’t have his words, but we have to take all the moments to celebrate those we love. Thank you for this opportunity to do exactly that.”
After a four-year battle with colon cancer, Chadwick died on August 28, 2020, at 43. Chadwick has been honored by fans and fellow celebrities alike in the aftermath of his death. He won many posthumous awards, including the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Award for Best Actor and the MTV Movie & TV Awards’ Hero for the Ages Award.
