How to Beat Procrastination

As a fellow teen myself, there is nothing I know more than procrastination. I procrastinate when I’m supposed to be doing my homework, but I’m on social media. There are a few tricks to stop procrastination and get things done.

Forest

Stay focused is a productivity app. This app will help teens and turn off their phones and help succeed in getting work done. The purpose of this app is to grow trees. Set a timer for how long you want to be productive, and your tree will continue to grow until the timer runs out. The longer you are fertile, the taller your tree will grow. If you leave the app, you will get a notification asking you to come back, or your tree will die. Save the trees. However, to get the app on the App Store, it costs 1.99.

If Forest is too expensive for you, I would recommend turning your phone on airplane mode. You won’t get any social media notifications, texts, nor phone calls. The plan is to focus on the task at hand. You can text your parents and friends beforehand to tell her you are going to hibernate for a while.

Another way to increase your productivity is to try to block out each session to 20-25 minutes. The courses are long enough to get work done but not too long to stress you out. After each session, instead of going on social media or anything that may distract you, I would recommend going for a walk, getting a snack or stretch. This way, your mind will stay productive and ready to continue another session.

Here are a few tips I would suggest to become productive. I understand being productive can be hard, but if you set a routine for yourself, I know anyone can beat procrastination.
