With the protests going on all over America and the black lives matter movement being highlighted in media at the moment, Ression is highlighting books that discuss the hardship that many black Americans are facing. And why the protesters are so upset and furious.

Just Mercy

Just Mercy is the story of Brian Stevenson after he graduates from college he enters the judicial system to fight for people that have been wrongly accused. One of the cases he works on is the case of Walter McMillian who is wrongly accused of killing an 18-year-old girl even though there is evidence proving his innocence.

The Hate U Give

The Hate U Give follows the story of a girl named Starr. Starr lives in a poor neighborhood; however, she attends a prep school in a predominantly white and wealthy district. She witnesses the shooting of her best friend; she cannot ignore the hardship that her Community is facing. From pressure from the community, Starr stands up for what she believes in.
